Three Facts about Dolce and Gabbana
Dolce and Gabbana are considered “the most powerful designers of our time”. They design clothes not for stick women but for women with hips and curves. Their favorite customer who's also their very loyal fan is Madonna.
Here are three facts about Dolce and Gabbana:
1. The duo met in 1980 when they were working as assistants in an atelier in Milan. They decided to join forces sometime in 1983 and the Dolce & Gabbana label was born.
2. The duo is business partners as well as romantic partners in real life. They broke up in February 2005 but eventually got back together in 2008.
3. Their fondness for black in their designs is inspired by the dress of the peasants and gangsters of Sicily. However, they also mix contradictory collection of fabrics and influences.

Nothing beats black. It's the color of elegance.

It's requires creativity to be able to wear undergarments as outer garments. Or should undergarments remain as such?

These are great alternatives in wearing suit.

Beige is the color of the rich.

The best way to wear polka dots? I never thought breaking the rule would work as best. Animal print and polka dots are perfect together.

The best way to wear shade of green.

G&B might be fond with black and gray but once they play with bright colors, they just bring perfection.

Three Facts About: Abbe Held, Creative Director of Kooba handbags
We decided to adapt the Three Facts About: way of featuring fashion designers from our sister blog ShoeFetish. To start our series of three facts, let's talk about fashion designer Abbe Held, the creative director behind Kooba handbags.
1. There are big similarities between bag designers Abbe Held of Kooba and Kate Spade of Kate bags on how they started to get involved in the handbag world. Just like Kate, Abbe was hit by the fact that living in New York makes hunting for handbags that had an edge or contemporary sense of style almost impossible. She was struck by "how much sameness there was in the marketplace". Therefore, in order to give answer to women’s plight, together with her mom, they braved the challenge of founding Kooba.
2. Abbe Held early inspirations for handbags came from collecting vintage pieces and hardware. When asked by the interviewer for 5 series of questions for designers’, Mariana Leung, about the favorite piece from her collection, she answered "an amethyst satin pouch that I found while shopping at a flea market in St Tropez”.
3. Kooba handbags are created for strong independent women who are not slave to trends but are keen for designs that enable them to express their individuality. Women who appreciate quality, craftsmanship, functionality and give attention to details are the targets of Abbe Held.

An Interview with Kate Spade
Creative Fashion was very lucky to have the chance to interview Kate Spade, the fashion designer behind the chic handbags - Kate Spade brand.
♥ Young people aspiring to break into the fashion world as fashion designers usually start with going to fashion school. How has your start been different?
I think that my journey to fashion designing was different in a way that I did not go to fashion school. I arrived in New York in 1986 from Kansas City and was working as accessories editor for Mademoiselle Magazine. While working at Mademoiselle I noticed that the market lacked stylish and sensible handbags, so I decided to create my own.
♥ How exactly did you start designing your bags and how did you market them?
I started designing my handbags in my apartment and I had six samples made in satin-finished nylon. I displayed them at trade shows but they went unnoticed at first. Later I started getting orders from some of the leading stores Fred Segal, Bergdorf Goodman. I realized then that my bags were being noticed by the fashion world.
♥ What do you think made your bags famous and how are they different from other designers’ bags?
I created my bags from the notion of developing a well-edited line of fashionable, but not "trendy" handbags. By designing styles that will be as relevant tomorrow as they are today, my brand has established itself as a modern classic. The colors and material are modern and chic and the designs are very eye catching. The bags consistently maintain a high level of quality at a palatable price.
♥ Right now Kate Spade bags are being distributed around the world. But where did you first open your shop?
The first shop was opened in New York City’s Soho in 1996. Kate Spade then opened its doors in Boston in 1998. Boutiques were opened in Chicago, San Francisco, Greenwich, Connecticut and Manhasset, Long Island in 2000. And it’s true; Kate Spade bags are now available almost anywhere with 46 boutiques in the United States, 32 in Japan, 6 in Hong Kong, and 4 in the Philippines as well as 2 in Jakarta.
♥ No matter how high-end or how functional a product is, there would always be criticisms. In what aspect was Kate Spade ever criticized?
Well, at one point it was pointed out that Kate Spade bags were easy to fake. But now the immense selection would even take fake handbag makers ages to replicate.
♥ How important are handbags as accessory for women in your opinion?
I believe that accessories should bring color and texture to an every day wardrobe based on each individual's sense of style. a handbag is only one item to be worn with a complete outfit. Add a peony pink leather handbag to a charcoal gray suit, for instance, and the impact is chic with a touch of wit. In the same way that men wear ties to add personality to their clothing, so too should women wear their accessories.

Monika speaks about botkier
It was a delight when I came across the interview with Monika Botkier, the designer behind my favorite brand of bags, featured at eye4style. I had blogged about botkier in the past and many of our readers adore the bags too.
Today, I would let myself parrot some things from the interview that I deem beneficial to my readers who are fans of the same brand.
Monika’s principle in designing is to create bags that are “stylish, luxe and functional but do not break the bank”.
For being “stylish” she might refer to original and creative custom detailing. And for being “functional”, well, that is something that most designers bag which are so pro-stylish usually neglect. Ask yourself. Do you panic when your phone rings because you have to dig deep down your bag quickly before you miss the call? Monica rightly believes that busy city-girls need their bag to organize things for them.
When Monica says botkier delivers a woman’s needs, e.g style and luxe, with emphasis on functionality without the need to break the bank, it is clear what she'd meant. Girls, look at these HOWARD st. satchel bags. How would you feel bringing home one of your choice for only $475? Btw, Monica must be carrying that bag in natural snake during the interview.

Spotted: Celebrity outfit - Black Devil Jeans
Black orchid is almost mythical. While for centuries curious people were perturbed about the existence of such a flower, there was hardly any black flower or orchid that they could find as much as they could hardly breed a black tullip. Thus tremendous effort spent in the search of a black orchid went mostly in vain.
However, according to the story, there were such flowers that searchers found. They were not entirely black but they were too dark that you could almost say they are truly black. Their colors are most likely dark brown or dark maroon.
It is also said that the beauty of these dark-colored flowers called black orchid are too alluring that even if you hate vampires, you would love to take a couple of them to bring home. They're that beautiful.
Julien Jarmoune is one designer inspired by the beauty of black orchid. He was smitten by the idea of the rarity of this flower. This inspiration lead to the birth of his brand "Black Orchid". Rare and highly desired is the trademark of this designer's creations so that even celebrities patronize his products. Julien felt that the market was "saturated with ostentatious designs that he decided to create an elegant but basic jean that would appeal to women of all ages".
Black Devil Jeans in Thunder is the newest creation for Black orchid. Kristin Cavallari and Charlize Theron were spotted sporting these very jeans. Available in Black Orchid's "Thunder" wash. These devilishly divine skinnies feature zipper detailing on the back pockets and at the ankles.
Therefore girls, zip up your style with Black Orchid's Black Devil Jeans by visiting Boutique to you and grabbing your first pair.
But if you already got your first devil jeans, then let us know what made them unique. Would really love to hear from you ;)

Creative Fashion by Agatha Ruiz de la Prada
Since we talk about Creative Fashion, then let's talk about Agatha Ruiz de la Prada.

When I first met the name Agatha Ruiz de la Prada, it stuck. Not because I liked the name, but because it was the contrary. It's not that the name is ugly, but it's how my mom used to address me by it whenever she was mad at me; as a kid, that is. Donya Agatha!
But perhaps it helped. I became curious about the designer behind the name. For how many times, and quite several times, I googled about her. And what a consequence! her designs are called Creative fashion. I had to find more about her. And here's what I've found.
She's from Madrid. She's married to Pedro Almodóvar and she has two kids. She was formerly a star of the dynamic modiva period of the late 80's but eventually faded in popularity. Then she made a comeback and worked to restore her name through fashion designing.
She sticks to bold Pop Art patterns — flowers, hearts, stars, food and anything you meet in your house or in the streets.
Her designs are creative and distinct. I actually wondered at first if there's anyone who would use the designs which I think are wacky and weird. Would you walk in the streets with a sunny side-up egg on your dress, a bread on your head or a cage over half your body? Perhaps in the movies?
But browsing more from her collections, my impression changed from apprehension into wishful interest seeing all the colorful and easy to wear garments that she has made. The colors and patterns create an everyday summer feel and comfort. They are stuff that the mean girls in the campus would wear.

Mercedes_Benz Fashion Week 2010 takes the excitement to New York
Wouldn’t you be ecstatic to see all the latest designers clothes ? I always make sure I get updated with what’s new in the runway. Although above that, I make sure that I identify which designs actually hit the streets.
Now, what really makes me excited is the upcoming Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York City on February 11-18. This is going to be a rampage of Fall fashion for 2010. What beats the excitement under the tents? The gossips, the news and fashion updates would be at hand all for you to grab and write.
The Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week takes the excitement at a new location but still in New York, the center of glamour and fashion. How I dream to get there and be one of those fashion bloggers sharing the tents, entirely glamorous and freaking busy with all the events? I know what I would do if I were there. I would sleep early and would try to skip most of the late night parties so I would not miss any day-time event. I would take everything documented. And I know that I would need to bring my own food to supply me through the days so that even if the food for everyone finishes quickly, I would not be bothered. I need to be focused. Otherwise, isn’t this my biggest dream?
