For the girls who love ruby rings

If there’s one special stone that I’d love to have, it’s a ruby. Something in this gem fascinates me. I love its pink blooded color, especially the natural one without inclusion, it’s very girly. This stone must have been created solely for Valentine’s Day that’s why its color speaks mostly of sweetness and love.

I wonder if men think of ruby if they're to propose. I bet the sight of a glimmering pinkish red after the box is opened would be more than enough to convince her that indeed, he's the one.

Best seller ruby ring with diamonds

As for me, I’m done being engaged but I did not receive any ruby. I did, however, receive a wonderful ring that’s white gold around with a stone that’s just 1.0 Moh harder than ruby – a diamond. Of course I love my engagement ring. But if I were asked to choose between what my boyfriend gave me and a sweet ruby ring, I most probably would take weeks to decide.

Unfortunately, I don’t wear rings. This is due to my religion’s practice of simplicity (weird, huh? given that I blog about fashion). We don’t wear jewelries. So what would I do with my ruby ring if I had one? I won’t wear it, yes, but I most certainly put it in a fabulous jewelry box, look at it every night before I’d go to bed, delight in its beauty and guard it with all my life!

I noticed that there are more ruby rings and necklaces created out of this stone than wrist watches. And if there are any watches made that are accentuated by ruby, I haven’t found one that I really fancy, yet. (Let me know if you had!)

Because of my fascination of ruby, I researched about the places were this stone is mined. I learned that for centuries, the country that was most well-known as source of this gem is just a neighboring country – Myanmar. But things even got more fascinating when I discovered that Thailand, the very country where I’m in, has also been historically mined for ruby. Great news!

Admiration aside, to all the girls like me who doesn't have ruby but who love it, here’s a wonderful quote that I hope you’d like.

“No one has found the worth of the ruby of the heart; its value cannot be estimated.”

Not only are all their adjustable bar stools and swivel chairs on sale at one of their CSN online store, they are also giving away $65 to one lucky winner. How to wear animal print maxi dress

Animal print is a severe and very challenging print to wear. It's something that can make you look highly fashionable and stylish if done right but can also make you look disaster with even very tiny mistakes.

Wearing little animal print in your outfit is easier to handle than wearing a huge ensemble such as an animal print maxi dress. But fret not. You don't need to be a celebrity or a model to perfectly pull off a fabulous animal print maxi dress. You just need the perfect techniques.  Take a look at my tips on how to wear animal print maxi dress.

  • Choose the right dress
It's important that you pick the right animal print maxi dress for you. You'll have to consider the shade that supplements your skin color, the patterns that would go along your figure, the style and cut of the dress itself and the fitting. You must be comfortable with the cut. By that I mean that you make sure the dress itself is stylish and perfect to flaunt your assets. See how Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen wear animal print.

  • Choose the right accessory
It's very essential that you choose the right accessories for your animal print dress. After all, it's with the accessories  that girls easily commit mistakes. The colors must jibe with the print. If you choose to match, make sure the accessories have finer prints.

Animal print comes in different variations. The tiger print, for example, usually comes in bigger patterns with light brown as background shade, the leopard print is much more fierce and darker, the zebra print usually comes in diagonal/stripe patterns of dark brown or black and white, and there are even more creative colored animal prints such as dark pink, purple, etc. The thing is you must know how to play with colors.

In case you're unsure, it's better to stick with plain dark brown or black for shoes or bags.

  • Choose the perfect length for your personality or for the occasion
If you feel intimidated by the long maxi dress that's an animal print, then go for a mini-maxi dress. Showing off more flesh can tome down the fierceness of the print. Make sure that your footwear gives your dress justice. Pic a shimmering pair of silver or gold strapped shoes 'cause I guarantee, eyes would automatically shift from the dress down there.

Creative Fashionista explores Planetarium

Last Friday I and my girl friends went to visit a Planetarium here in Bangkok. The place was full of displays of scientific experiments and animal models.

We visited the place for two reasons: 1) to expose the two kids - both my godchildren - to science and 2) to spend the holiday as bonding time for friends.

Valentine's Day gift ideas for the woman that you love

When hubby asked me a few nights back if what I'd like for Valentine's day, it made me think. Roses? A bouquet of red roses? But it's always the same. I feel like I'd prefer something else sometimes other than flowers and chocolates. Hubby did promise he'd find something else, something more creative Valentine's Day gift this time and I've no idea what he's got in mind. I try my best not to interfere.

But for other boyfriends or husbands out there who have got no idea what to treat their partner on the day of hearts, here's the list of what I suggest:

Red shoes

Pleaser Vogue 25 (Women's) - Red/Red
Pleaser Vogue 25: Sold at 17% discount

Pleaser Delight 2023 (Women's) - Red Stretch Patent/Red
Pleaser Delight 2023 (Women's) - Red Stretch Patent/Red 17% discount

Does your woman need another sexy winter boots or red stilettos? No matter how many pairs she has, when it comes to shoes, she'd love it.

Red dress

red dress

It's a very challenging color and most women aren't tough enough to wear a red dress. But if that dress is a gift from her man, she'd feel wonderful tonight.

Red purse

red purse

They say it's the most dangerous thing in a woman. The purse is where all of her secrets are kept. But I say no biggest secret she can lock in her purse if she beams with pride carrying your gift.

Red nail polish

red nail polish

Okay. Who gives a girl a nail polish? Maybe a few men if not none. But why not? Giving her some nail polish means that you care even for some tiny vain stuff that she needs. That's very sweet.

Red rose cupcake

valentine's cupcake

Instead of red roses and chocolates, a box of red rose cupcakes is a good alternative.

Flowers

valentine's flowers

But if she's a kind that loves flowers the most, then give her the best bouquet you can find. You might want to ask her though, if she prefers plastic flowers than fresh ones. Some women love to keep their flowers intact for a life time which fresh ones do not allow.

These are what I've got in mind right now. So what do you think, girls? Are there things you'd like to add to our list?

Enjoy shopping for gifts!

How celebs rock little black dress

From time to time I can't help but blog about this fashion basic that Coco Chanel first introduced to the world in 1926. It might not be true to everyone, of course, but a little black dress is simply classic and by rule, is a must-have.  I can't live without having it in my closet. If you're curious, this is how I wear little black dress.

It is much interesting to note how celebrities wear little black dress, how they shine at the red carpets amidst long gowns and how they sparkle in this no-longer-a-mourning-outfit at premieres or other events.

Here are some of my favorite celeb looks:

Heidi Klum attended InStyle's "Best of British Talent" fete in a shiny Marchesa mini that featured trendy feathers on the shoulders and skirt.

Amy Adams was seen at the 22nd Annual Producers Guild Awards in a sexy Andrew Gn dress.

Kristen Stewart black dress
Kristen Stewart looked like a princess in this Marchesa little black dress  she wore at the premiere of the movie "Eclipse".

If asked what little black dresses I have my eyes on right now, these three topped my list:
1) Taffetta dress  2) Strapless Drape Dress and 3)Rippling Motion Dress

They would give me a feel of that celebrity look if and only if they wouldn't hurt my pocket.

So tell me girls, are you a fan of little black dress?

Wacoal: The Princess Collection

I was staring with disbelief at a one piece swimsuit; I never laid eyes on a swimwear that glistens with varied precious stones almost all over it – ever before. Then my eyes shifted to a pair of two piece bikinis, both sparkle with colorful stones that are beautifully cut. I couldn’t resist but asked for the price. The one piece swimwear is 150 000 baht ($4870). Each piece that makes a two-piece bikini is worth not less than 20 000 baht ($650).

Each piece is worth above $4870

These royalty swim wears are from Wacoal designed by the Thai princess, Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana. Every inch a luxury of her designs are a reflection of haute couture.

The designer princess

There is nothing extra-ordinary with the designs except that the piece is detailed with expensive stones. Not only was I intrigued by the wealth that these creations show off, but also by the type of customers this designs target. Of course, the rich and the elite, the princesses. But just WHEN would they going to wear it? That baffles me.

The best part about this collection is that the Princess created it to support a charity work. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the National Cancer Institute.

Picture 043

I didn’t explore the Wacoal area of Siam Shopping Mall because I was looking for some new lingerie, nope. Instead, I accompanied Anny, a classmate from a weekend German class who works part-time as a PR person/presenter for the brand. I was glad I did. Stumbling upon the lingerie of Princess Sirivannavari was a beautiful thing.

Creative Fashionista shares a glimpse of her prenuptial

The hard part about taking some time away from blogging, for whatever reason, is that it gets very difficult to pick up the drive and write the rebound post. I'm glad I have a very supportive hubby, he's the one who encourages me to be active again in blogging.

While my head is still scattered and pulling off a very useful post for either fashion report or fashion tips still seem impossible, let me just share to you some of the beautiful things that had happened to me recently, things that I am blessed to have.

I'm an offbeat bride. I didn't have the typical bridal dress or typical church wedding that most traditional couples dream for.  However, I had an intimate and very romantic wedding.

Here are some of my favorite prenuptial photos.
